Wow it has been TOO LONG hasn't it! I knew I was overbooking myself when I took on two new jobs at once, but I didn't realize they were going to monopolize THIS much of my time (at least I'm doing what I love?)!
In my last post I talked about how strange it would be to work on a part I had already done 3 years ago, however with a new cast and artistic team. Now I am happy to say that I am also taking over the Managing Director position with the Theatre of All Possibilities for the 2018-2019 school year. This one is the real trip!
TOAP is a school assembly company. We do educational shows and have around 30 kids from the school act with the adult actors in each show. For the last eight years I have worked as an actor with this company off an on, and besides the early long drives I loved it! Now the owner is ready to retire, the manager has a full time job and can't commit enough time to this project and I get to step in. I know the shows like the back of my hand, but the administrative work? Not only is it pretty new to me, but it's obvious that the same person has been doing it for 10 years. I have to figure it out with very little structure to guide me. But I've been a rentals manager for years now, so it's not a huge jump to book shows as well.
At the same time working on West Side Story has been a blast (from the past). So much is so similar, and yet so different. I still can't sing my part in the Tonight Quintet--I'll get it by opening I swear!! But our musical director has been pushing me to places I didn't know I could go. I do love acting with all of these people and the team at Hillbarn Theatre is fantastic. You should really check this one out (if it isn't sold out by this point)!
And with that I think that I'll call it a day! Some day soon I'll finish the second part of my two part episode of Theatre Customs but with everything else going on I've run out of time now multiple weeks in a row! I am so sorry to fall so far behind. Thank you for all of your support, and I will start getting more on top of it again soon!
