It's official and I can now announce that I will be playing the part of Riff in Hillbarn's production of West Side Story. I am so excited to get back into this part that I played 4 years ago at City Lights. I have never played the same part in a show before. Spamalot was the first time that I did the same show twice, but I at least worked different parts each time. That being said, I'm still very excited since everything will be very new and different.
The thing is, I'll have a completely new cast to work with and a new director. I don't know what I'm going to learn from this production, but I can say with some confidence that I will still learn a ton! It's the most frequent question that I get. Why do the same part in the same show? But my response is always the same. You never know what you'll learn in any production. I can do a brand new production that looks like it will teach me all kinds of new things and feel like that show didn't help me in any way. What matters to me is who I'm working with. Working with great people pushes you to meet them. work hard, and if everyone else is working hard too then it will be as not only a fantastic production, but you'll become a much better actor in the end.
Anyways, I know that these have been getting shorter and less overarching, so if you want to hear something different just let me know! I want to write about what you want to hear about!
